English Camp der dritten Klassen

vom 27. - 29.

It was an exciting three-day stay in the “Am Greifenbachstauweiher” youth hostel in Homersdorf. Grade 3 enjoyed their trip, which was accompanied by early Spring weather. Most had been to Homersdorf before of course, but the magic of a class trip is the collective experience, the talk, discovery, adventure and conversations as they learn together. The theme of the class trip was “Die Räuber sind los” and like real thieves, the children had to accomplish various tasks to prove their courage, strength and intelligence.

The children particularly enjoyed building the emergency huts or shelters in the middle of the forest followed by a walk in the darkness of the mire. The highlight was the treasure hunt. Our “thieves” needed to use their knowledge in using compass and interpreting coordinates to find the location of the hidden treasure. They even had to prove and test their courage as the final stroke of finding the treasure. One of the activities was grinding stone and polishing it into a beautiful gem. The last night was spent with a bonfire and grilled stick bread and marshmallows with some traditional songs. Thanks to some of the parents who prepared the bonfire.

The class trip was also a part of the school’s English Camp; therefore, the students had the opportunity to practise their English communication skills by playing games and conversation with their teachers. The students were praised by the youth hostel’s personnel for showing their exemplary behavior all throughout the trip. We could also say that the two Grade 3 classes grew together as they improved and developed during different team building activities and games. After the trip, the students can no longer wait for the next one.
